When the Past Still Feels Present
What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps your brain process experiences that feel “stuck.”
Instead of talking through everything in detail, EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity of memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming, triggering, or present in your body.
Many people describe it as the past finally feeling like the past.
You might be ready for EMDR if you:
Trauma doesn’t always come from a single event. Sometimes it’s the accumulation of experiences that taught you to stay alert, keep your guard up, or disconnect just to get through.
You might notice:
Feeling anxious or on edge for no clear reason
Shutting down emotionally or feeling numb
Replaying conversations or past experiences in your mind
Struggling to trust people, even when you want to
Feeling like you’re “too much” or “not enough”
Carrying a sense that something is wrong, even when life looks fine on the outside

How Healing Works Here
Trauma therapy with me is not about forcing you to relive everything or pushing you faster than you’re ready for.
We start by helping your system feel safer and more grounded. From there, we begin to gently understand the patterns your mind and body developed to protect you.
When appropriate, I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process traumatic experiences so they feel less overwhelming and less present in your daily life.
The goal is not to erase your past—it’s to help it stop controlling your present.
It may feel impossible now — but you can heal.
